Epson Ecotank ET-4760 Review: User Review, Price, & Features

Epson Ecotank ET-4760 Review User Review, Price, & Features

A supertanker-equipped all-in-one printer is the Epson EcoTank ET-4760. Its four large-capacity refillable ink tanks reduce the need for refills and produce prints at an exceptionally cheap cost per page. Even if its color fidelity is subpar and there is a lot of banding in photographs, both should be sufficient for the majority of everyday usage.

The primary features of the Epson EcoTank ET-4760 t-shirt sublimation printer are:

Build Quality

The build quality and design of the Epson EcoTank ET-4760 are adequate. It has a detachable power wire that makes it simple to repair in the event that it is broken. Paper jams are easily removed from the back and the area beneath the scanner bay. You don’t need to keep the lid of the scanner in place since it remains up on its own.

The lid of the scanner has hinges that can elevate to scan a magazine or small book but not a heavy textbook. Since the entire scanner flatbed needs to be lifted, setting ink tanks requires a little more work. The automated document feeder tray feels thin and fragile in contrast to the body’s solid impression.

Display Screen

The display of the Epson EcoTank ET-4760 is adequate. There are two physical buttons on the control panel that may be pressed to rapidly access the home and help menus in addition to the touch-sensitive screen itself. Even if the screen isn’t particularly clear, using it is still simple enough if you’re looking at it straight.

Whether you’re standing or sitting, the control panel can also be adjusted to tilt up and down for better vision. The screen is nonetheless difficult to view from a side, and there is significant latency while using the menu.

Cartridge

An excellent super tank ink system is included on the Epson EcoTank ET-4760. It contains four high-capacity ink tanks, which are refillable. You may refill them yourself rather than utilizing conventional throwaway cartridges. They are incredibly durable and can carry a lot of ink. Even if you print regularly, you won’t need to replace ink bottles or constantly refill the tanks. The Epson EcoTank ET-3850 is a comparable printer with greater black page yields that you might want to look into.

Although it is technically possible to fill the tanks with ink from a third party, I didn’t attempt it. Unlike normal inkjet printers, cheap ink might harm the heads of the printer and cannot be easily removed in the event of a problem.

Scanner

The scanning features on the Epson EcoTank ET-4760 are respectable. Unfortunately, it does not enable automated duplex scanning. Therefore, you must manually turn over each page of a double-sided document.

There is a flatbed scanner and automated document feeders. In contrast to the Epson EcoTank ET-2720, we were unable to scan documents directly into searchable PDF files; instead, we had to scan the document as a PDF first and then save it as a searchable PDF using the Epson Scan 2 computer program. Have a look at the Epson EcoTank Pro ET-5180 if you want duplex scanning capabilities.

Print Size

The input tray of the Epson ET-4760 contains width sliders that may be adjusted to fit different paper sizes. You may print user-defined sizes ranging from 3.5″ x 5″ to 8.5″ x 47″ in addition to the preset sizes. If you manually set the measurements, you may print them on A5-sized paper using this. The Epson EcoTank ET-15000 is a comparable printer that can handle tabloid-sized paper.

Printing Costs

The cost per print for the Epson ET-4760 is surprisingly cheap. The ink bottles are reasonably priced, and this printer uses them rather frequently. It takes some time, even if you print a lot of pages often before the expense of ink makes a noticeable impact on your budget.

Remember that even if you solely print in black, most inkjet printers still use color ink for service purposes, so you’ll probably need to top off the tanks at some point.

Printing Speed

The Epson ET-4760 prints pages quickly. The first black text page prints out rather quickly, and the following pages print even more quickly after that. However, printing color papers and printing images both take a long time.

Epson Ecotank ET-4760 Reviews: What Customers Have To Say

To judge the Epson Ecotank ET-4760 in the best way possible, here are some customer reviews from BestBuy.

Here’s a positive 5-star review in BestBuy:

We’ve had many sub-$200 inkjet printers over the years. I bet we have 20-30 old ink cartridges that don’t fit anything. I am done with that! The Epson ET-4760 is our first “tank” printer, and we are very happy so far. It was relatively easy to set up, directions were clear and complete. The print quality set-up does take some time, but it is very important and really not difficult. There is a FULL set of ink bottles included that I’m sure will last us over a year, perhaps two as advertised. The tanks actually hold that much. We have been able to scan to and print from HP laptops, iPhones, iPad, and MacBooks, all through our household WiFi. The print quality is excellent. Scanning is quick for normal resolutions. It is smaller than I expected (this is a good thing) and holds a lot of paper. Powering up and down is very fast. Many of the printers we’ve had would clunk, chug, grind and bang for what seemed like minutes before they would perform the requested task. I hope the honeymoon with our new Epson lasts a long time!

Here’s a negative 1-star review at BestBuy:

Hands down, the worst printer I have owned. Two major issues, shortly after purchase on 8/2020, the 4760 was no longer supported on windows 10, then any longer supported by google print. The biggest problem is the printer's connection via wifi. No matter how close to the wifi, it always says, max bars but fails to print. When this occurs, it spits out the paper halfway and starts over. If you don't catch/cancel it, it just wastes paper and ink. It also never worked over direct connect via wifi, so we always have to send it via email, which is flakey at best. I would say 50% of what is attempted prints, actually.

FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions):-

I have answered the questions of several people who wish to buy the Epson Ecotank ET4760. Here are my answers:

Q1. Is The Epson Ecotank ET-4760 Good For Sublimation?

Ans: Yes, this is a pretty solid sublimation printer. However, it will be a better sublimation printer if you do not use any inkjet ink on it.

Q2. Can The Epson ET-4760 Print Double Sided?

Ans: No, you cannot use this printer as a double-sided printer. If you want to print on both sides, it’s best to use the printer twice, individually on both sides.

Q3. Can The Epson ET-4760 Print Photos?

Ans: Just like all other sublimation printers, this printer can also be used to print photos as well. Therefore, you can buy this safely if you wish to print your favorite family photos!

Final Verdict: Is The Epson EcoTank EP-4760 Worth Buying In 2023?

Although you might miss having a second paper tray, the Epson ET-4760 has quick printing and copying speed, making it a suitable choice for smaller workplaces. It also has a tiny footprint.

Although pages print lighter than single-sided papers, the duplexer allows for simple two-sided printing. Quick copying and scanning are made possible by the printer’s ADF, but sadly for an office worker, irregularities in copied papers indicate the document feeder may not be entirely dependable.
