Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Wireless Features

Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Wireless Features

After using this headset for a few days, I had enough hands-on experience with this headset to prepare a review. Here are the primary features of this headset, and I have explained what I liked and disliked about this headset.

Design

Design

Even though this Turtle Beach headset is marketed as a gaming headset, it doesn’t look like one. In terms of design, I found it to be pretty conservative in its approach compared to other gaming headsets.

It has a monochromatic black color scheme, which gives it a minimalistic look. I loved the design of this headset, which has a primarily plastic body. However, it has a metallic finish in some areas (especially near the earcups). This makes it look professional rather than flashy, which most modern gamers prefer.

However, even though I am a gamer, I prefer this minimalistic yet conservative approach to headset design. But, the headphone feels heavy, making it less portable due to its non-foldable design.

Build Quality & Comfort

Build Quality & Comfort

When I took this headset in my hands, I could feel that well-built premium vibe I get to feel only on higher-end headsets.

This headset looks fantastic and has a sturdy build quality as well. Even though it’s made entirely of plastic, touch this once, and you will realize how solidly built it is. The hinges on the earcups are made of metal, along with the lining on the earcups. However, it feels pretty overall,

The earcups themselves feel pretty soft, being made with faux leather. Despite such high-grade build quality, I felt discomfort during my longer gaming sessions. This arose due to its above-average clamping force and its heavy and bulky design.

Another factor (specifically for me) was the discomfort I started to feel after the 4-hour mark due to the higher clamping force tightening around my spectacles.

If you use it for a session lasting up to two hours, this headset will be fine. However, if you intend to use it longer than that and wear spectacles, you might feel discomfort after three to four hours.

Noise Isolation & Leakage

Noise Isolation & Leakage

The Turtle Beach Stealth 700 wireless has poor noise isolation. When I wore this headset on the bus on my way to my workplace, I could hear the outside noise, like the bus rumbling and the nearby chatter of other passengers.

The same can be said for the sound leakage as well. I faced a somewhat embarrassing situation on the bus, where the person beside me asked me to lower my volume. Since I was listening to Metallica’s new album 72 Seasons at full volume, I guess the person beside me didn’t like heavy music much!

Connectivity & Controls

Connectivity & Controls

The controls are good on this gaming headset. This headset has all the necessary controls a gamer would require. It has two dedicated volume buttons  – one for controlling the media volume (games and music) and the other for the chat volume. This headset also has a dedicated mic mute and unmute button, which is handy for gamers.

However, this headset’s best and worst control comes from the multifunctional Bluetooth button. It has various functions, like pausing/resuming playback, picking and hanging calls, and even fast-forwarding/backtracking music and playing the next or previous track.

All of these functions can be done using this one button. If you press it once, it picks up-hangs calls, pausing and resuming playback. Press it twice, and it will play the next track you are playing. Triple tapping will allow you to rewind the track. In addition, holding down the button allows you to fast-forward the song you are listening to.

Even though having all these functions might feel intuitive, it does not because of this headset’s poor responsiveness. Occasionally, it failed to register my button presses, doing something it shouldn’t have. This makes this a failed attempt to do something intuitive.

Battery Life

Battery Life

The battery life of the Turtle Beach Stealth 700 wireless Gen 2 is good enough. It has a similar battery life of 15 to 16 hours compared to the Astro A50 wireless. Additionally, you can use the USB charger to charge it to full in under 3 hours, which is good.

But one unique feature of this headset is its auto standby function. It will automatically revert to a standby-off mode to save battery whenever it’s not in use. This will allow you to squeeze in an additional hour of playback.

However, I disliked Turtle Beach’s claims of this headset lasting for 20 hours. It fell short of it every time I used it.

Microphone Quality

If you wish to buy a headset, having a good mic is necessary for multiplayer gaming. In this regard, the Turtle Beach Stealth 700 delivers. It has a flippable boom microphone, which feels solid and flexible enough to adjust to your preferences.

While playing Valorant and Rainbow Six: Siege, my teammates could clearly hear everything I had to say to them in-game. You can improve this further if you use Discord for gaming, where the app’s noise suppression makes it even better.

Audio Quality

Audio Quality

The audio quality suits music and movies since it has a boomy bass and a shriller treble. This gives it a neutral soundscape, which you can customize using the Turtle Beach Audio Hub app.

However, even though it’s a gaming headset, I found one glaring flaw – audio lag/latency. There was a slight delay in hearing the sound as to what was going on on the screen. This will be a significant drawback for the more hardcore, competitive gamers.

However, the output quality is excellent, providing clear and loud sound for single-player games where the audio latency is not a big issue.

Final Verdict: Should I Buy The Turtle Beach Stealth Wireless Headset In 2023?

You can definitely buy the Turtle Beach Stealth 700 wireless gaming headset in 2023. It has good features that allow you to control the playback and an excellent mic and design. I loved the looks of this headset, which looks fantastic. Its 16-hour battery life with an auto-standby mode for saving battery is an excellent addition.

However, its multifunctional Bluetooth button for playback control sometimes feels clunky and unresponsive. Another flaw is the audio higher latency for competitive eSports gamers. Additionally, this headset is heavy and bulky, becoming uncomfortable after more extended sessions, especially if you wear glasses. Its poor noise isolation and leakage are cons for wearing this on the commute.
