Metal Shell: Also referred to as the metal jacket of the spark plug, it helps in adapting the plug to the torque of its tightness. In addition, it also dissipates the heat from the insulator and transfers it to the cylinder’s head. Therefore, it also helps in grounding the electricity in the central and lateral electrodes.
Central Electrode: This electrode is connected to the terminal using internal wires and a ceramic resistance unit. These electrodes are made using a combination of metals like copper, chromium, and a nickel-iron alloy.
Lateral Electrodes: The lateral electrodes are made with nickel and are typically welded to the sides of the metal casing. They also have smaller platinum or iridium pads for better ionization.
