It was able to raise 3.1 million dollars as seed funding from Pieter Abbeel from AIX Ventures, Andrej Karpathy of OpenAI, Yann LeCun of Meta, Clem Delangue of HuggingFace, Ashish Vaswani, an investor of Transformer and Amjad Masad of Replit on September, 2022.

Soon the company started announcing products under it.

Perplexity Ask was announced on 7^th December, 2022.
Bird SQL which is a Twitter search interface incorporated with Perplexity search engine on 15^th December, 2022.
On January, 2023 Perplexity Ask got an update with follow-up questions feature and real-time answers.
Perplexity Ask got Chrome extension on 1^st February, 2023.
Perplexity re-branded its flagship search engine to “Perplexity” on 8^th February, 2023.
