AI Can Search Faster Than Google: Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella Thinks It Obvious

AI Can Search Faster Than Google Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella Thinks It Obvious

A few hours ago, Microsoft announced that the upcoming version of Bing would be driven by OpenAI’s artificial intelligence technology. Microsoft’s CEO, Satya Nadella, considers it as an opportunity to challenge the search engine dominance of Google.

ChatGPT was actually developed by OpenAI. Nadella thinks that upgrading Bing with the qualities of ChatGPT will make the search engine faster and more powerful.

Furthermore, Microsoft is also bringing in a new edition of the Edge web browser, also powered by Open AI, for better browsing and understanding of web pages. Nadella claims that the combination of Bing and Edge can drastically increase the productivity of the user. Nadella thinks that “This technology is going to reshape pretty much every software category,” as he hopes for “…a new day of search.”

A few months back, OpenAI sparked a new era of artificial intelligence with the launch of ChatGPT, as millions of users have received readymade answers to questions. The AI bot checks multiple sources within seconds and offers readymade answers instead of providing a list of websites with similar links and keywords.

Microsoft claimed that the new Bing, powered by OpenAI, would look at different results from across the web and will offer a summary of the results instead of giving them links to websites to choose from and find information.

Furthermore, the Edge browser will also come with a chat tech from OpenAI, which will help users to browse webpages better. Yusuf Mehdi, one of the vice-Presidents at Microsoft, commented, “We applied the AI model to our core search ranking engine, and we saw the largest jump in relevance in two decades.” The demonstrators claimed that an interactive chat option would be provided to ask users for details in case of complex searches.

With this ambitious project, Nadella hopes to create a challenge for the two-decade internet dominance of Google. As of the end of 2022, Google holds 84% of the search engine market, while Bing’s market share is only 9%.
